A new Roger Thomas collection for Moore and Giles is infused with the romance of travel.
Roger Thomas, in his role as head of design for Wynn Resorts, thinks long and hard about the design challenges of creating interiors that are spectacularly theatrical but also practical. That’s one reason he is so fond of leather as a material that is both durable and luxurious.
“I personally can’t think of travel without thinking of leather,” he says. “Leather brings to mind bellhops hoisting leather valises and leather-strapped steamer trunks, briskly escorting arriving guests through train stations and grand hotel lobbies.”
The new Roger Thomas Collection for Moore and Giles is intended to evoke, Roger says, “magical dreams and memories of travel the way we all imagine it should be.” Roger has been a happy customer of Moore and Giles, a Lynchburg, Va., manufacturer of both leathers and finished leather goods, for years. “The quality has always been superb, he says, “and the coloring is evocative. And the service has always been amazing.”
Roger’s designs evoke dreams and memories of travel: Vintage sports cars on winding coastal roads, luxurious train travel, first class passage on the storied ocean liners built between the wars. The leathers are lustrous with color and texture.
‘Putting this collection together has been a wonderful journey of ideas and memories for me,” Roger says. “I hope it proves worthy of the most evocative settings you can imagine.”
The new collection for Moore and Giles offers a beautiful example of the kind of collaboration we at Design Commerce Agency seek to foster: Great design minds and great manufacturing talents create great new opportunities.
